Živković Samardžić Wins the 2018 Deal of the Year Award for Serbia

We are pleased to announce that Živković Samardžić has won the 2018 Deal of the Year Award for Serbia for its work on Belgrade Airport privatization.
Organized by the renowned CEE Legal Matters magazine, this is the second year that these awards were held and they are a way of recognizing the biggest and most important deals by leading law firms in Central and Eastern European jurisdictions. A two-tiered panel of leading lawyers from across the region selected winners for 17 different CEE jurisdictions.
The prestigious accolade was awarded on March 28, 2019 at the CEE Legal Matters Deal of the Year Banquet in Budapest. Before an audience of over 90 senior legal professionals from across Europe, Igor Živkovski, Živković Samardžić Corporate and M&A Partner, accepted the award on behalf of the firm.

Živković Samardžić in the Finals for the CEE Legal Matters Deal of the Year Award
We are proud to announce that Živković Samardžić’s nominated deal, Belgrade Airport privatization, is one of three finalists for the 2018 CEE Deal of the Year Award for Serbia. These prestigious accolades are organised by CEE Legal Matters, a renowned print and online publication for and about lawyers in Europe’s emerging legal markets.
The Živković Samardžić team that advised Belgrade Airport on this deal was led by Branislav Živković and Igor Živkovski, Partners and Sava Pavlović, Senior Associate.
These shortlists were chosen by panels of experts on the ground in each of 17 CEE jurisdictions from over 200 submissions made by law firms all over Europe. The shortlisted deals are forwarded to the Final Selection Committee, which consists of CEE Legal Matters Knowledge Partners and attendees to the annual End of Year Expert Summit, who independently rank the final nominees, identifying the ultimate winner in each market.
The winners will be announced at the CEE Deal of the Year Awards Banquet on March 28, 2019 in Budapest. On that day senior legal practitioners from across Europe will gather in hopes of winning the prestigious CEE Deal of the Year Award and to participate in the biggest and the most important annual celebration of top level lawyering in Central and Eastern Europe.

Igor Živkovski, President of FIC Legal Committee and Živković Samardžić Partner received “Committee of the Year Award”
On December 21st, 2018, President of FIC Legal Committee and Živković Samardžić Partner, Igor Živkovski received “Committee of the Year Award” on Foreign Investors Council regular annual session of the Assembly. In order to fully recognize the key role of its working committees, FIC established “Committee of the Year Award”, which was awarded to the FIC Legal Committee, as the most active committee in 2018. The winner was announced by FIC President, Yana Mikhailova.

The Foreign Investors Council held today the regular annual session of the Assembly, summarizing the key achievements and making solid basis for the future growth. Members also adopted Annual and Financial Report for 2018. For the first time this year, the “Committee of the Year Award” was introduced.
Igor Živkovski, Živković Samardžić Corporate and M&A Partner said: “The Committee of the Year Award have been presented for the first time this year and I feel a deep sense of pride at the achievements of our FIC Legal Committee team. This is an achievement which demonstrates our strength and confirms our expertise. Seems we succeeded!”.
Warm congratulations to Igor Živkovski and his colleagues, also congratulations to other 10 committees, aiming to advocate for improvement of the overall legal framework by closely monitoring the work of Serbian authorities and generating proposals for its improvement. Legal Committee has developed a practice of organizing roundtables in order to present to the authorities FIC positions on specific draft laws or on the issues regarding implementation of the existing regulation. Miloš Stojković wins OSCE Mission to Serbia 2017 Person of the Year Award
The Mission to Serbia, an OSCE field operation based in Belgrade, presented its Person of the Year Awards at a ceremony held on 12 December 2017, to Miloš Stojković, Živković Samardžić Technology, Media and Telecommunications Senior Associate. While several Supreme Court of Cassation Judges received the award in previous years, this is the first time ever that it goes to a private practice lawyer. Miloš is recognized for his dedication to media freedom and development of media legislation.
“We congratulate Miloš on a well-deserved recognition of his achievements and are proud to have him among us,” said Slobodan Kremenjak, Živković Samardžić Technology, Media and Telecommunications Partner.
Miloš Stojković graduated at the University of Belgrade Faculty of Law in 2007 and is with Živković Samardžić since 2012, after a four-year stint with the Ministry of Telecommunications and Information Society, where he was a Legal Advisor and a Head of Regulatory Department in the Sector for Electronic Communications. He currently serves as a Board Member of the Belgrade Centre for Human Rights, one of the most important and most influential non-governmental organizations in Serbia and a Head of the AmCham Digital Economy Platform’s Regulatory Stream, AmCham Serbia’s body focused on initiating and supporting regulatory changes enabling smooth transition of Serbian economy towards digital technologies.
The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) is the world’s largest security-oriented intergovernmental organization. Its mandate includes, inter alia, issues such as promotion of human rights and freedom of the press. For more than a decade, OSCE Mission to Serbia Person of the Year Award celebrates citizens of Serbia who contribute to the promotion of OSCE values in the country. This year’s award was also presented to Dženeta Agović, Director of the Impuls civil society organization from Tutin; Brankica Janković, Commissioner for the Protection of Equality; Tamara Mirović, Deputy Republic Public Prosecutor; and Nedim Sejdinović, President of the Independent Association of Journalists of Vojvodina.
