Živković Samardžić, a leading Serbian law firm, advised Romania's Hidroelectrica, the country's largest state-owned hydro power producer, on the closure of its Belgrade subsidiary established in 2014. Hidroelectrica, Romania's most profitable state enterprise, operates 208 power plants and pumping stations with a total capacity of 6,444 MW, producing 14,039 GWh annually. The company plays a key role in Romania's energy sector and national security. In 2018, it signed an agreement with Serbia's EPS to enhance joint operations at the Đerdap hydropower plant.
